Deep filters can be divided into absolute and nominal filters. Filtration efficiency value is the factor here.
Usually, absolute filters have efficiency of 99.9%. The efficiency corresponds to particles of proper dimensions, identifying the filter class, e.g. 0.5 µm, 1 µm, 3 µm, 5 µm, 10 µm, etc..
The absolute filter class defines requirements with respect to its dimensional structure. In theory, optimal filter – with external dimensions preserved – is defined by local porosity value of filtering layer and diameter of fibers composing those layers. |
